Situated approximately 66 kilometres south-southeast of Brisbane, the Gold Coast is a prominent coastal city in Queensland, Australia, stretching nearly 60 kilometres along the Pacific coastline. It is Queensland’s second-largest city and ranks as Australia’s sixth-largest city overall. The city’s urban centre, Southport, serves as the main business district, while its metropolitan area extends north towards Greater Brisbane and south to the New South Wales border. The Gold Coast is famed for its beaches, entertainment precincts, and thriving tourism industry, earning nicknames such as the ‘Glitter Strip’ and ‘Goldy.’ Residents of the city, known as Gold Coasters, enjoy a subtropical climate with warm temperatures averaging 25.4°C during the day and 17.3°C at night, along with an annual rainfall of around 1,253 millimetres.
